While perusing the Patagonia web site, I just found a great story from Gerry Lopez on his first visit to Pipeline, way back in 1963.
Probably not coincidentally, that same Saturday was the first time that Lopez met Jock Sutherland, whom Lopez would one day replace as the guy known as Pipeline's best surfer.
