Was talking to a guy earlier this afternoon who returned from a surf trip/family vacation to the Tahitian Tuamotu Atolls, specifically Tikehau.
After four days of absolute uncrowded (read: nobody else out) perfection, this guy is completely convinced that the remote reefs off Tikehau offer the most perfect South Pacific surf this side of Tavarua.
Think he's right? Want to find out for yourself? Here's what Waterways Travel says about the Tuamotu Atolls:
"There are very few local surfers in the Tuamotus, and no land based surf camps. You should expect that there will be many times when your group is surfing alone. In addition, it is my experience that the local surfers are some of the friendliest in the world when approached with the general respect they deserve."
