Could a WCT rookie who only made it to the big leagues when Luke Egan retired last year really take down Andy Irons (three world championships) and Kelly Slater (seven world championships and soon to be eight) in the same day?
The surprising answer is yes, as Aussie Bede Durbidge won the Boost Mobile Pro (Presented by Hurley) at Lower Trestles this afternoon.
Slater did extend his ratings lead over both Taj Burrow and Andy Irons with his appearance in the finals.
Next up: the Quiksilver Pro France, beginning in just six short days at Hossegor. Pray for French surf!!!
