Dustin Cuizon a WQS 'Bubble Boy'

As the year-long World Qualifying Series begins to wind down, Hawaii's Dustin Cuizon finds himself near the "bubble," where he could gain entry into the WCT's big show next year, or fall just short and face another year of slogging it out on the WQS.

Since breaking through this past spring with a win at the Body Glove Surfbout at Lower Trestles, Cuizon has had a solid year and made another final this afternoon at the Newport Beach Pro.

Cuizon currently sits 19th in the WQS (the highest rated 'QS surfer from Hawaii), with a four-star and two six-star qualifiers on tap to end the season in his home waters on the North Shore.

My bet? Dustin Cuizon will be the next young Hawaiian surfer to join the WCT in 2007.
