As surf spots go, the Cortes Bank is about as remote as the moon, sitting as it does 100 miles off the California coast in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
As part of a Surfer's Journal feature in the current issue, Long tells of a covert run to the Cortes Bank with his brother Greg, photographer Rob Brown, Mike Parsons and Brad Gerlach.
The group ends up scoring what Rusty Long describes as the "best waves I’d ever seen at about 50 feet."
