Gerry Lopez Weighs in on G-Land

One of the few unanswered questions I have about the life and times of Gerry Lopez concerns his relocation some years back from the Hawaiian Islands to Bend, Oregon. I mean, I know the cost of living in Oregon is substantially less than it is in Hawaii, and the snowboarding is good in the winter, but seriously Gerry: Bend, Oregon?

But I digress. From his early 70's mastery of the Banzai Pipeline to his initial, feral forays into Indonesia with Peter McCabe, Lopez has obviously compiled an extensive list of surf stories and has a unique way of telling his tales.

One of Gerry Lopez's most recent accounts appears (at least in part) on The Surfer's Path web site. Read an excerpt from "The Edge of Panic" now at SurfersPath.com.
