Greg Long at Dungeons: One of the Biggest Waves Ever?

There's quite a bit of talk right now about Greg Long catching a big, big bomb recently at Dungeons in South Africa. This was around the time of the Red Bull big wave event, although Long's wave wasn't actually during the contest.

At the time the wave was ridden, observers said that Long's wave is a shoo-in to win the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Award when it's presented next spring.

But I'm not so sure. Winter is yet to begin in the northern hemisphere and a lot of folks are saying that El Nino (that little bastard) will have a hand once again in this winter's weather. How big a hand remains to be seen, but suffice it to say that there's a lot of big wave surfing still to be done before anyone will decide on who's ridden the biggest wave of the year.

There are three good still images of Greg Long's South African monster, which looks like it jacked a lot when he finished the drop. Here's a link to the sequence.
