A few years back while in the midst of a heated race for the world title, Australian Mick Campbell was quoted as saying something about Pipeline along the lines of the spot being "just another left."
Not surprisingly, Campbell lost the world title that year at Pipeline to Kelly Slater, who knew from many years of experience that Pipeline is indeed not "just another left."
Mick Campbell will rejoin the WCT in 2007 and will have another shot at the Pipeline Masters, nearly always the most dramatic professional contest of the year and the subject of the new documentary film Pipeline Masters, by acclaimed filmmaker Stacy Peralta.
Peralta's two previous films, Dogtown and Z-Boys and Riding Giants, have been well-received in the mainstream film world...in fact Riding Giants was selected to open the Sundance Film Festival a couple of years back.
So if Pipeline Masters is anywhere near as good as Peralta's previous efforts, it's definitely going to be worth seeing. Watch the trailer now on the home page of SurfingTheMag.com.
